Happy to be 28!

Personal

As of today, I am now 28 and couldn’t be any happier! A lot of people tell me “man, you are getting old”. But to me, it’s only a number. One I start hitting the 3 digits, then I can worry a little…I think you only get old if you feel old. Stay positive and be happy…that’s all you need to keep a long and healthy life…

I actually just got back from dinner and we had the yummiest Mediterranean food. I had a marinated chicken skewer with rice…so delicious!

Funny thing about my birthday is I have to share it with 2 of my cousins. We are 5 years apart from each other (28, 23, 18). So, every year, we sometimes make a joke of it and sometimes share just one cake and just keep adding extra candles so the next person could blow the cake next…lol.

Sydney weather has been really weird. 2 weeks ago, it was pretty warm and I thought – finally, it is summer! But just a few days ago it was freezing chilly weather and now, it’s been raining. Always be prepared…you never know what the weather would bring.

Last weekend, I went to Bathurst. For those who don’t know where it is, it is located west of Sydney past the Blue Mountains. It’s been 12 years since I was in Bathurst. Last time I was there was 12 years ago for school excursion on the gold rush. All I remember was Mount Panorama and the chicken schnitzel we ate one night. I actually love the town and the friendly locals. I can highly recommend 3 restaurants to go there. I took heaps of photos and will post them up soon…

At work, boss called us in for a quick meeting. He basically gave us a summary of what is happening over the next few months. He is planning to expand the company into other countries. He asked each of us to fill in a form so he can see who is interested in going, so he can start making plans. I’m very excited about this opportunity and have shown my interest. The trip could be between 3 months up to 3 years. First country he plans to expand into is the UK market. So, fingers crossed I hope I can go.

Last week I went to Camera House and they had a range of Manfrotto tripods. A particular model I wanted to buy kinda put me off. It was nice and compact, which is great for carrying around and stuff. But when I opened it up, it didn’t look stable. I need something really sturdy that won’t budge. I’m now considering buying a sturdy carbon fibre tripod. It will be something I will use for 10 years minimum, so I don’t mind spending the extra money as it will be a lifetime investment.

I got the pleasure of trying out my uncle’s DSLR camera this weekend. He has a Nikon (can’t remember what model number), but it was great to use. Very comfortable to hold and take shots with. I just took shots of my cousin and his friends hitting the pinata. Hopefully the pictures turned out well. Maybe one day I might get a Nikon too…
